To be on the Homecoming court at Siloam Springs High School, you either need to be a senior who plays basketball or a senior representative of another sport or voted as a maid to escort the young men who represent these areas. This year there were 20 couples to represent the Homecoming court, January 29. Representatives are honored and celebrated for their athletic achievements and Maids are voted on by their peers for quality of character.
Groups represented other than basketball were, golf, tennis, bowling, swimming and band. Some people really don't look at band as a sport, but try doing what they do during marching season and blowing through an instrument everyday and you would think differently. Ethan Lubera did a fine job in representing the 250 + students in band.
The band students are clearly well loved and respected by their peers because seven band students represented their school in the court this year. They represented different areas, but they are also band members and have been for their high school careers. Heyden Smith - Sr. Tennis Representative, Ethan Lubera - Sr. Band Representative, Grant Penn - Sr. Bowling Representative, Abby Thurstenson - Sr. maid, Abigail Cole - Jr. maid, Yesi Telles - Sr. maid, and Madison Stricker - Sr. maid.
They are some of the brightest students with bright futures ahead of them. Clearly band and music has influenced them in their lives and, in turn, influenced their student body. They make and impact every day when they interact with others.
They are leaders. As much as they are handsome and beautiful, the young men are strong in character and the young women are gracious. The Siloam Springs Band is proud of these young people and look forward to seeing their lives unfold in the future!
